As well our consultancy and training services, Flo-Joe also runs an award-winning publishing company aimed at the ELT (English Language Training) sector. Some of our current projects and learning websites are shown below.

Flo-Joe for Cambridge exams website

THE essential portal for students and teachers preparing for University of Cambridge ESOL examinations

Each year over 350,000 candidates worldwide sit the Cambridge ESOL First Certificate, the Certificate in Advanced English and the Proficiency exams. These 'high stakes' exams are recognised by universities and employers around the world as evidence of competence in English. Since 2000 the Flo-Joe website has been a major source of information and learning support for both teachers and candidates preparing for these exams, and gets over a million page views per month. In 2003 the website was honoured with the British Council ELTON Award (for Innovation in English Language Teaching).

Splendid Speaking website

Podcasts, vocabulary quizzes, study tips, authentic recordings, and an online course to help advanced learners of English refine their speaking skills

Speaking confidently and appropriately in work and social situations is a major skill for everyone to master. The Splendid Speaking website and online course teach learners of English how to shine at job interviews, how to give memorable presentations, and many other key communication strategies. This website is particularly suited to undergraduates and workers in the business, retail and service sectors. In 2007 Splendid Speaking was shortlisted for the British Council ELTON Award.

Exam Success Plus self-study course

Online courses for the three major English Language qualifications.

Students embarking on self-study often need motivation and a degree of learner independence to study successfully. Flo-Joe developed Exam Success Plus to help Cambridge exam students stay focussed and organised throughout their exam preparation. We have taken our expertise in online learning and our experience of working with exam students, and produced a self-study package that comes in a convenient week-by-week programme lasting three months.

Set Texts Podcast

A series of podcast shows to help exam candidates who are studying the literature option.

English language exam candidates are encouraged to read works of English Literature to improve their command of the language and to appreciate British culture. However, reading novels in a second language can be challenging. Fiona Joseph hosts this regular Set Texts podcast - based on the exam board's recommended reading list - and gives an in-depth account of the plot, characters and theme(s) of each novel. The podcast is also useful for reading groups.
